Background

Norman received his law degree from University of British Columbia in 1983 and was called to the bar in 1984. Norman has extensive experience in commercial, real estate, and corporate transactions. Norman assists individuals and families with real estate conveyancing and with their estate planning. He assists business operators and professionals with business contracts, legal structures, leasing, and franchising requirements. As well, Norman assists real estate developers, commercial lenders, and investors with all aspects of real estate development projects including syndication, joint ventures, acquisition & site assembly, secured loans, construction, registration of strata plans, and sales. Norman has actively represented a number of businesses and families throughout his career.

Norman’s larger real estate transactions have included the assembly of lands for the construction and sale of multi-phase, mixed use projects having over 500 residential units; the development of multi-tower air space projects; the purchase and development of a village market commercial and residential project; the purchase and sale of premier investment grade commercial properties; the development of recreation properties in a ski resort; the development of strata lot hotels; the development of residential lands in golf communities and on aboriginal reserve lands, and the restoration of culturally significant properties in Chinatown. Many of these projects required the preparation of disclosure statements under the       Real Estate Development Marketing Act.

Norman is committed to assisting individuals and families with purchases of residential properties, including sublease interests on aboriginal reserve lands, organizing ownership of family real estate, and dealing with succession issues by the use of enduring powers of attorney, wills, and representation agreements

Norman assists health care, accounting, and other professionals with the incorporation and affiliation of their practices, and he provides business owners with advice on leasing, shareholders agreements, operating agreements, and franchising.

Norman is the owner of several active businesses. He previously operated multiple American franchises in Vancouver.
